SILENT MOVIE DAY 2024 featuring SO THIS IS PARIS

  • Arkadin Cinema and Bar 5228 Gravois Avenue St. Louis, MO, 63116 United States (map)

Silents, Please! STL and Arkadin Cinema and Bar are gearing up for SIlent Movie Day 2024. We will be hosting nearly 3.5 hours of programming, beginning with nearly two hours of shorts from the silent era. These will consist of mainly comedies, but there may be a few magical delights included to tickle the senses. A breadth of works from early cinema to the end of the silent era will be featured.

Following a brief intermission, we will be featuring one of the best films you've never seen, SO THIS IS PARIS (1926) from comedic master Ernst Lubitsch. A love quadrangle of mixed up communications and feelings, Lubitsch deftly juggles the chaos of love and lies colliding in the most humorous of ways -- climaxing with a chaotic and transcendent jazz ball, with more feathers and sparkles than you can imagine. You won't want to miss this treasure of a film as we celebrate the art of silent cinema on September 29, 2024.
